Is everything working after the UCP migration?
Is everything working after the UCP migration?
Yes, it's ?action=edit.
Have tried all 3 options and "Source Editor" & "VisualEditor - source mode" give an identical result.
Just to be 100% sure, you are clicking "Save" after making a selection, right? The old prefs did not require you to save your changes, it was done automatically.
Everything seems to be working for me. When I chose the source editor, I see this at the bottom of the edit screen:
That's the 2010 editor. If it still doesn't work for you, then we should file a bug report.
That's what I would call the new editor. We always used to have the Classic Editor available for source mode. So possibly just using different terms..
And yes, clicking "Save" on changing a preference, and even trying a hard refresh (Ctrl-F5) on the page before trying an edit.
This is the "new" 2017 Visual editor in source mode:
The old "Rich Text" editor is no longer available. Perhaps that is what you used to use.
Probably.
RSS Feeds on the main are broke.
It seems as if you can only look up categories to add in Visual Mode.
It appears to be missing completely from the 2010 editor.
If I use the 2017 editor in Source mode then that menu is greyed out.
I do not have "Disable Category module" preference selected.
Moving Files
Are picture renames meant to be available for all logged in users now?
That always used to be restricted to admin only.
If you check the Move log for 19 October 2020 and 26 October 2020 you should see that someone without any special permissions was able to rename files.
The ones where it went from a number to a proper filename it was possibly while they were still on the upload page, but the rename yesterday was definitely not possible before the UCP migration.
Is it a deliberate change, or a bug?
Note: I don't mind that this person was able to rename the file, and if there was a specific non-admin role that would have allowed them to do it I probably would have already granted it to a few people.
We used to occasionally get stuck with orphaned files after page moves.
Yes, the category widget is only available in Visual mode, but the editor allows you to switch between Visual and Source mode without leaving your edit session, so you can switch to visual, use the category widget, then switch back. Or, you can use the auto-suggest feature and it should start suggesting category names to you after you type [[Category:
If I have multiple categories to add, I copy this string and paste it each time, just to save typing.
The restriction on moving files was on the old version of MediaWiki. From what I understand, it was unstable and MW restricted it. The feature has been fixed and is now part of MW 1.33, so it is "working as intended". You do have the option of protecting files from being moved, if you want the restriction back.
RSS is back!
