When you're travelling the World of Twelve, it's best to be in good company... Not only is it safer, it's also a good way to forge some unbreakable friendships.
For years now, I've collected stories about people who have made their mark on history. And I don't just mean the great and powerful, either – there are plenty of other mysterious, terrifying and illustrious characters whose names have never been forgotten. I even wrote some of their biographies.
When I was a child, I dreamed of swashbuckling adventures. I almost set out to hunt for the Dofus myself. But it turned out that I wasn't so good at fighting, and that I didn't much care for sleeping outdoors. I need a certain minimum level of comfort, you see. The freezing cold in Frigost, the heat and humidity of deep, dark jungles... not for me, I'm afraid! So I chose to do my adventuring vicariously, by listening to the stories of others. I set their words down on paper to document their quests for power, riches, fame... and sometimes for higher meaning. And in the end, that's how I found myself.
After travelling around in a beat-up old caravan for quite a while, I felt I'd earned myself a bit of rest. So I had this old house renovated not only for myself, but also for everyone I'd crossed paths with over the years. They know they're always welcome here! Having the vigilante base right nearby helps to avoid any trouble, so the Inn is always safe for everyone who visits here.
Not as many people choose the adventurer's life as you might think. The danger, the constant confrontations, the hostile environments... It's all too much for most of us mere mortals. But none of that stops fighters who have no fear of pain or death.
Among the sidekicks I know, there are certain souls who've passed beyond the veil, but who never fulfilled their destiny and still refuse to reincarnate and start a new existence. Unlike ghostly creatures, these souls can manifest themselves in this world with the help of certain relics that allow them to take physical form. Those relics are embedded in their signals.

...Well, which ones are you interested in?
I've heard that a Sufokian got her hands on some magic signals associated with those infamous artisans. Apparently she's willing to trade them for various materials. Still, I doubt she'd be willing to negotiate with someone with no knowledge of the professions that the bandits in that dark guild appreciate.
Have you got a preference for one or the other?
The Moon Pirates haven't forgotten Kalkaneus' name. As for Hichete... When he was alive, and even after he died, he always thought he was the biggest double-crosser of them all. He was constantly facing off against others to prove his superiority. If you climb the ladder of success, you can stir up his jealousy and force him to appear.
Kubitus was a fervent disciple of Reniator, the Meridia of Plotting. As for Koksiks, well, he was more interested in music than religion. The echoes of his dance of death still haunt Amakna Cemetery.
When an adventurer makes a name for themselves through daring feats and exploits, their renown tends to make its way to the Astrub Knights' ears. So all you need to do is catch people's attention with a few flashy achievements!
The legend of the sons of Hissering has been passed down through the centuries. Their sinister reputation was forged in blood, in the dust and din of an arena... So you must pass through the gates of the Kolossium to find the five signals that can summon them.
As I understand it, those spheres of energy are used by Dimensional Voyagers. They use them not only to communicate, but also to take action from a distance... at least when they're free to do so.
The Frigostians tell blood-curdling stories of the world's first people. Tales of a smouldering blacksmith, a thief with a mangled hand, a perceptor killer and a murderous barber... Inferno, Styx, Mandrin and Will Killson. All four are said to be able to return from the dead to serve those who control their cursed signals. Anyway, that's what Granny Capping told me last time I passed through Frigost Village.
Those intrepid heroes fight relentlessly against crime. I don't know how they do it... sometimes it seems like they're everywhere at once! And they're no lone rangers, either – they enjoy the company of others. Trank and Krobax will keep their eye on any adventurer who achieves a certain degree of success.
Stroy Zemol, Mirh and Tracon were famous Pandikazes. They regularly took part in the battles that occurred in Pandalan lands, at the gates of the old villages. They died in battle, but their legend lived on. Even today, their names are respected by those who face off in alliance wars.
Rapiat's greed was notorious, even among Enutrofs. The Terra clan has a certain admiration for him.
Only those who venture into the most dangerous places can engage the services of a jester from the Riktus troupe – and doing so is risky business. Talk to their rekruiter for a few tips. You'll find him clowning around in Caravan Alley.
A strange people, the Zoths... They live on Otomai Island, isolated and self-sufficient. It was under the fronds of the Tree Keeholo that Master Haku's curious game was born, and it's one of the few places where it's actually still played. It wouldn't do to pervert Amakna's youth with ridiculous tales. Everyone knows that dragons don't live in dungeons! Honestly! |
