A Debuff is a type of spell which decreases the target's characteristics. The target might be the caster, teammates, or summons. The effect of the buff might last a set number of turns or for the duration of the battle. All classes have at least one buff spell in their arsenal.
The effect of a debuff can be removed by unbewitchment spells.
