As a Huppermage, I must pay tribute to all of the gods. However, this world's balance depends in part on its inhabitants' faith in the Twelve. So, it's my role to ensure that the established order and balance of power is maintained. Ask why the idols have lost their powers. At first, the Twelve approved the idea of letting artificers make idols of minor gods and distributing them widely. Each of the minor gods who had these idols made of them would sign a pact with one of the Twelve, granting him or her part of the power generated by the followers' faith. In that way, the pantheon gained influence while the members of the brotherhood were weakened. Say that so far, it sounds like a pretty fair deal. Indeed. But many Twelvians started using the idols' power in careless ways that risked weakening not only the minor gods, but even the Twelve themselves. A tool that was originally meant to push back against the brotherhood was turned against the gods. Twelvians' faith in their idols was gradually tainted, twisting and distorting their intended purpose. Some minor gods began showing signs of corruption, influenced by their followers' outrageous behaviour. Acknowledge that the situation seems like a bit of a mess. It's unfortunate, but that's why the Twelve preferred to gather artificers' knowledge and grant it only to a chosen few, including myself. Idols will always exist, but their creation will now be monitored very closely. Ask what will happen now to the idols owned by Twelvians. If you own any idols, I can accept idolokens to extract the residual faith they contain and deliver it to the gods. You would, of course, be compensated appropriately. If you're interested, you should talk to my whisperer, Whispy Cashgrab. He handles all the logistics. Ask what you're supposed to do if you need an idol during one of your adventures. If you need a particular idol for any reason, I can help you to craft a new one in my workshop. However, these idols will be ephemeral, and they'll disappear once their objective is complete.
