Obtaining[]

Talk to Oto Mustam at [-25,33] in the Brakmar Militia.
Dialog
Ask for a new mission.

Milone requires a Kain Dharyn crystal. If you don't already know, its a very rare and sought-after crystal. My spies report that the family of Captain Starky of Bonta owns a few of them. Since we can't attack Captain Starky directly, kidnap his niece Sabine and demand a Kain Dharyn crystal as ransom.

Captain Starky is the leader of the Bontarian cavalry. He's a hothead who has led countless devastating charges against our troops. He would've made an excellent soldier for Brakmar had he not chosen the losing side. Still, I think I'll offer him a position in our militia when Bonta is but a smouldering pile of ruins.

Set off to find Sabine.

Step 1: Sabine's Kidnapping[]

You must kidnap Sabine and put her somewhere she won't be able to escape from.
Enter the bottom left house at [-34,-60] in Bonta and go up the stairs. Talk to Sabine.
Dialog

Hello there. What are you doing at my house? If you're looking to burgle the place, let me warn you that my uncle Starky is captain of the Bonta militia. He'll make you pay if you dare.

Explain why you came.

You think I'm just going to sit back and let you get one over on me?

Try to overcome her. (starts a fight)

Go look for backup.

  • Defeat 1 Sabine in a single fight  [-35,-60]
A fight starts against 1 Lvl. 116 Sabine with 2,500 HP who uses Eniripsa spells.
Other characters and Sidekicks can join the fight, and will update their quests if they've previously talked to Sabine and chosen Go look for backup.
You will drop 1 Sabine (following character).

Step 2: Good Behaviour[]

Take Sabine to Oto Mustam by force. You'll have to make sure she doesn't get an opportunity to escape.

Dialog
Say that Sabine's been captured.

Nice work. I'll put her in a cell for now. In the meantime, I want you to go and get another Brakmarian to guard one of our hideouts near the alchemists' workshop. I'd prefer it if you picked someone who wasn't a complete rookie. When you've found someone, bring them to me.

Head out.
You lose 1 Sabine (following character).
  • Take a qualified militia member to Oto Mustam  [-25,33]
You need to find another Brakmarian to stand 3 cells northeast of Mak Gahan, while your own character stands in front of him. The other character must be at least alignment level 16.
Kain Dharyn's Crystal step 1
Once both characters are in place, talk to Oto Mustam.
Dialog
Introduce the militia member chosen to watch over Sabine.

Go up to Mak Gahan and tell him to stand right in front of me. Yes, within spitting distance... I want to make sure this recruit's got what it takes.

Await the verdict.

That'll do for the guard. I'll have the prisoner transferred while you find a way to contact Captain Starky to inform him that we're holding his niece hostage. If he wants to see her again, he'll provide us with a Kain Dharyn Crystal. Stampitor upstairs knows his rival pretty well, so you should ask him for information.
Once the message is delivered, go tell Sabine everything will be fine, and then wait for our enemy's reply.

Step 3: The Ransom[]

Sabine is well-guarded, so you'll have to find a way to contact Captain Starky in order to get a Kain Dharyn Crystal as ransom.

I'm looking for big, aggressive dragoturkeys to knock over the Bontarian rank and file.

Talk about his rival, Captain Starky.

What's up with Captain Starky anyway? That wimp can't hold a candle to me. I'll crush him and his cheekens, I'll stamp on them, I'll climb on a chair and jump on them until all that's left is bony mud. Then I'll stomp about in the mud until it turns into Bontarian cheeken juice that I'll drink through a kokostraw.

Ask for a way to get to him.

You want to get to him? Ha ha ha. Impossible when there are no battles taking place – he's hiding in the Bonta militia building. That said, he needs almost as many dragoturkeys as I do. I'll bet he buys his stock from Smakko, the famous dragoturkey hunter from Breeder Village.

Ask if he knows Captain Starky.

Of course I know him... well, not personally, but I've done business with him, you know? I hunt Dragoturkeys and sell them off to Bonta militia whenever they need some. Captain Starky takes care of the business, so you could say that I know him, yes.

Pass the message about the ransom.

Listen, I'm not the type to get mixed up in other peoples' business, so let me tell you this. I'll pass on your message, and then, finito, that's it. And you know where you can stick your threats. It's not today nor tomorrow that a Sacrier is going to tremble before you.

Step 4: Crime Doesn't Pay[]

The message was sent to Captain Starky. See if Sabine kept calm while you wait for a reply.
  • Find the map: Sabine's prison  [-28,35]
Enter the house behind the Sabine's Jailer NPCs. You will be immmediately attacked by 2 Lvl. 116 Infiltrated Militiaman with 2,300 HP and 70% resistances (20% to Neutral). They deal around 160 damage per turn at close range.
The fight must be done solo, but a Lvl. 100 Sabine's Guardian will join on your side. He has 1,400 HP and deals around 100 damage per turn including Pushback damage. He can die without affecting the fight.

Step 5: Crime Will Pay, By Brakmar[]

The Bontarians tried to save Sabine. You can't let them get away with that! Show them who's in charge.

Oto Mustam ordered the guard to be increased, and the Bontarians were overcome. They were handed over to Boud Chair to make tinned food. He also wants you to send a message to Captain Starky to say that his niece may suffer the same fate if he doesn't cooperate.

Hi, 9your name). I'm Smakko, one of the best Dragoturkey hunters in the land. Welcome!

Send more threats to Captain Starky.

What did I tell you the last time? That I didn't want to get mixed up in all this business.

Bribe him.

I'll do what's necessary the next time a Bontarian comes round this way, but it'll cost you 2,000 kamas.

I hope you still have the silicate ore, the mother of pearl and the Kilibriss fluid on you, otherwise you'll have to get some more.
Listen carefully. I really don't want to repeat myself. I hate that. In the alchemists' workshop in Brakmar, there's a secret passage behind the central trunk. You're going to go there and enchant Kain Dharyn's crystal. You'll need a jewelmagus, an alchemist and a miner – all competent, of course – to go with you unless you've got solid knowledge of those professions yourself. You'll also need to use a Blaze Potion, a Gust Potion, and a Landslide Potion, which you'll make react with the fluid.

Set off to enchant the crystal.

Step 6: The Dark Crystal[]

You have to take the secret passage to the Alchemists' Workshop with sufficiently experienced craftsmen.

Kain Dharyns Crystal v2
You must have 1 Blaze Potion, 1 Gust Potion and 1 Landslide Potion. Inside the Alchemist workshop, click behind the big trunk to get to the secret room.
You will need an Alchemist, a Jewelmagus and a Miner respectively, each with lv116+ in their professions. It can be done by a single character (even yourself). Each lever meant for a profession must be pulled before the main one.
If you have all ingredients in your inventory, the quest will update and you will receive 1 Enchanted Kain Dharyn Crystal, and lose 1 Kain Dharyn Crystal, 1 Blaze Potion, 1 Gust Potion and 1 Landslide Potion.
You must bring all the items at the same time.
Dialog
Show the enchanted Kain Dharyn Crystal.

It's a pity I didn't keep it to myself. Here's a few kamas so you can enjoy yourself at the Inn. Have one for me!

Take the purse and leave.
You lose 1 Enchanted Kain Dharyn Crystal and receive 2,000 Kamas.
