The Walking Willow is a quest.

Story[]

Inataba is roaming Plantala to gather medicinal herbs in order to cure his ill wife. The shaman Surivitna is too busy awakening the spirits so he had to go out here himself. We offer to help him and find the leaves called fujibakama for him.

Obtaining[]

Talk to Inataba at [26,-31] in Plantala.
Dialog

*mutters* Chin up, Inataba, everything will be fine... She's counting on you... Maybe this plant? No..."

Ask what he's doing in the middle of the forest.

*jumps* AAAAAH! Scaring p-people like that isn't kind! I thought you were a Yo-yokai!

Repeat your question, specifying that the area is dangerous.

I... I know that but she needs me! I know I'm not a fighter but... Surivitna, our shaman, is too busy with the awakening of the spirits and doesn't know what my wife is suffering from... So, I figured I'd go and get what I need to cure her myself!

Insist that the area is dangerous and offer to take him back to the village.

N-no! No, no, just no. I won't go back just to see my sweet Yinagi in such a state. If no one wants to help me, I'll just have to do it alone. Yes, I will. I d-don't need anyone to gather medicinal herbs...

Realise that he won't want to go back until his problem has been solved and offer to help.

Really? You'd do that? Oh, thank you so much, adventurer! I wanted to ask the village herablist for help, but she's disappeared. I went into her place to look through a few books and eventually found a description of a remedy using primitive medicinal plants that have reappeared in Pantala.

Admit that his devotion is impressive.

Yinagi means everything to me! Anyway, I tore out the page describing the plant so I could recognise it. *rummages through his bag and shows you a scientific sketch of a plant* It's called fujibakama. Five leaves should be enough to make the remedy, but I haven't found any yet...

Agree to help make the remedy.

Step 1: Remedy for Yinagi[]

  • Take 5 Fujibakama Leaf to Inataba

They can be harvested at 6 different locations: [27,-30], [26,-29], [25,-29], [26,-30], [25,-31], [25,-32] (see image below).

Note: They seem to have about a 5-10 respawn timer. (They are not quest items, you need to wait for them to respawn if you have multiple characters or you can buy them from the resource market).

  • Protect the villagers from the aggressive Plantalas

Starts a fight against 1 Bulbush, 1 Bambooto, 1 Nenufrog and 1 Flowistil. This is a solo fight.

  • Escort Inataba to the alchemists' workshop

Talk to Inataba while having the 5 leaves in your inventory and then escort him to the workshop in Pandala Village.

  • Craft 1 Remedy for Yinagi

The Remedy requires 5 Fujibakama Leaf, 5 Drinking Water and 1 Oilbow Grease and can be made by an Alchemist of any level.

  • Visit Yinagi with Inataba

Talk to Inataba then head to [20,-27].

  • Administer the treatment to Yinagi
  • Ask Surivitna for advice

Step 2: Surivitna's Trance[]

Story: The remedy we made unfortunately didn't cure Yinagi. The shaman tells us that she can help us but needs to go in a trance to contact the spirits. To go in this trance, we need to bring her some spores and Nenufrog Bulb.

  • Take 5 Soporific Spores to Surivitna

Has a 5% base drop from Plantala monsters.

  • Take 1 Nenufrog Bulb to Surivitna

Has a 5% base drop from Nenufrog.

  • Ask Surivitna for advice

Step 3: The Weeping Willow with Silver Leaves[]

Story: Surivitna went into a trance but kept having visions of a weeping willow with silver leaves. There might be a strong link between this willow and Yinagi, so we should investigate the forest of Plantala and visit this tree.

  • Find the map: Silvery Willow Pond
  • Inspect the silvery willow for a clue

Click the bush on the left side of the map.

  • Show 1 Ribbon-Wrapped Branch to Inataba
  • Talk to Yinagi

Story: We found a ribbon-wrapped branch near the tree, which used to symbolize the love between Inataba and Yinagi. They had put a ribbon around a branch of the willow because that was where they met. Yinagi suddenly wakes up because she feels that the willow is in danger. After talking to her we find out she is not really a pandawa but actually a spirit of the willow who took on a Twelvian form in order to be with Inataba. Because the willow seems to be deteriorating, so is she. She thinks that is has to do with the distance between her current form and the willow that she is growing weaker. Lumberjacks are currently trying to cut the willow down so we'll put a stop to them.

  • Protect the silvery willow from the lumberjacks

Starts a fight against 4 level 110 Threatening Lumberjack. They look like sadida's but they fight with different spells and seem rather weak. Other characters can join the fight and update the quest at the same time.

  • Check in with Inataba and Yinagi

Talk to Inataba, then Yinagi and finally Inataba again.

Step 4: The Witch of Plantala[]

Story: After defeating the lumberjacks, we find out that its too late for Yinagi. She will be merging with the willow in order to regenerate, meaning Inataba won't ever see her again. Inataba all of a sudden realizes that he can still be with her, if he turns himselves into a tree as well. We can help him with this by speaking to the witch of Plantala.

  • Ask the witch of Plantala for help
Dialog

*mutters incantations while boiling her laundry*

Ask for help turning Inataba into a tree.

Huh? What an absurd idea? Whatever could have happened to that man to make him want to trade in his arms and legs and sip nutrients through roots?

Explain the couple's situation.

Oh, interesting. Verrrry interesting. Eeheh... err... sorry. Bad habits and all that... Anyway, back to your question. Yes, it's possible, but I'm sorry to say I don't have that power myself.

Ask who has the power to do so.

Damadrya, the guardian of the Bamboo Grove. I'll need one of her leaves and with the magic in it, I'll be able to brew a potion able to veggify anyone who drinks it. I already have all the other ingredients I need.

Express surprise that she agreed to help you so easily.

*a sinister grin stretches her leathery lips* Helping a spirit is always useful - the spirit just might feel indebted to me, eeeheheehe...

Shiver at such a calculating mind.

Well? Why are you still here? That ingredient isn't going to fetch itself!

Go and confront Damadrya.

Talk to Sobomori. (Note: you need to have completed the quest Say It with Flowers before the conversation option will appear)

  • Take 1 Damadrya Leaf to Sobomri

100% drop from Damadrya.

  • Give Inataba the veggifying potion
  • Attach the ribbon to connect the two trees' branches

Story: We have quite a wholesome ending once again. Inataba has drunk the potion we made for him that turns him into a tree so that he can be with his love for eternity. We end the story by attaching the ribbon around the two different branches to bind the lovers together forever.
